Pasadena swap meet

I have never been to the Rose Bowl, for what I have been told is the most epic swap meet you could ever go to. So finally, FINALLY, I was able to go, (Thank You Anna!!!) and let me just say, I could not have been more thrilled. I got an old owl sculpture & cookie jar, and most importantly, an old school film camera. All for under $50.

So basically its $10 to enter, & once you're in, you may roam as you please. There are rows & rows, tent after tent of one mans trash & another mans treasure. There is a section of mostly furniture & odd trinkets, the other half is clothing, mostly vintage. Feel free to exercise your haggling capabilities, but don't do what I did, & go "WOW! 15 dollars! thats Cheap!!!" because than they know. And its pretty hard to back pedal that one. And here are the photos....

Prince Peter x Mick Rock

Photobucket

Tara invited me to go with her & the rest of her cast members for Styl'd to attend a collection release party at this bar called Guys & Dolls on Robertson. The collection features famed photographer Mick Rock. He did a lot of photos of bowie in the 70s, this being one of them. So amazing.

Photobucket

SS10 for Prince Pete x Mick Rock uses original photographs of famous icons, such as David Bowie and Syd Barrett. He had models dancing up above the seats wearing the new collection.

Last night Josh & I went to see Paranormal Activity. I was a tad disappointed, but what can you do? And I slept just fine which sucks, I wanted to be scared. What do you think, if you've seen it? So Halloween is coming up! Can't figure out what we're gonna be yet. We've have been mulling over a few ideas but nothing's concrete.

In more exciting news, Ruubs & I bought our tickets for a tropical christmas & new year! Why do I have the best most amazing boyfriend of all time? Hawaii for two weeks, thats all I can think about. I can't wait to go out there with my camera & build the nature side of my portfolio.

Woo! Also, guys, if you didn't know, my friend Tara is gonna be famous. Watch her tv show on MTV Nov 1st. It's call Styl'd. Check out the website & trailer here. Don't worry, I'll be posting about this again.

I'm Happy

Hope you're happy too!

So I just realized I've had this blog for over a year. It's funny, thisfish is nothing like how it started... with an actual purpose, haha. No longer do I tell you tales of free or cheap things unless they coincide with something I want to post pictures of anyway. So I find it to be more than appropriate to ask you to enjoy a lengthy, frivolous post about nothing.

Myself & the roomies (ruubs & stooph) carved some pumpkins to get in the halloween spirit. I made John Lennon, he made the Lakers, & Stephanie carved a desert scene. I was sad when they became mutilated by mold in a matter of only four or five days.

Yet Another

Burton/Alien Workshop Roof Party. This time it was sponsored by Gravis & Analog so they had girls with fake boobs serving the beer. It was a beautiful day, one could not complain. Josh handled the grill, ensuring a perfectly roasted 'dog or burger. Josh takes food very seriously, you see. Anyway, lots of familiar faces & friends came through, & I guess I'd just like to say, thanks Burton & co, for delivering the good times.

Tahoe

Here's some pictures from my trip to Tahoe to visit a few siblings of mine who reside there. Laurie, & the Jibster. I'll most likely be posting more photos in the next week or two when I figure out this computer situation. Soon postings will become more frequent like back in the good ol' blogging days of thisfish.

Gypsy Land

So my friend Sam took me to this really cool vintage thrift store in Desert Hot Springs. I'd seriously have to say this is the best thrift store in all the land. They have amazing stuff, & its all dirt cheap. I got this cool rope owl thingy for 12 bucks. And they gave me crabs for free!!!! hah jk a crab pin. They have an array of inventory, clothing, knick knacks & furniture. Basically everything in between. Its worth the mish to get out there.

Check out their myspace link here.

Free Things

Lately I've realized thisfish has veered more in the direction of "other" postings instead of free & cheap. So to get back into the orginal spirit of things; I have equipped this posting with not one, but TWO free things to do in the los angeles area. Well Well Well.

Yesterday Burton/Channel Islands/Alien Workshop (but namely Channel Islands) threw another party. As always, Burton hooked it up with the free booze & food, this time it was in & out which I unfortunately wasn't able to fully optimize. But next time, next time. Check out the photos from previous Burton & Co. parties in the archive.

Anenome

Gloria thought we were really gonna let her birthday get mushed together with Coachella & I guess that's a good thing because she wasn't expecting her surprise party we threw for her at my house. We had those good times, complete with peach margarita's with umbrellas, basil & mozzarella bread chips, & birthday cupcakes. Thanks to everyone who came through.

Coach-hell-ah

Wow Coachella was the worst!!! Our ticket connect fell through so we decided we'd sneak in. I swear it felt like Gloria & I were trying to hop the boarder the way we were creeping. We hop the first fence, which took us to another fence, this one equipped with barbed wire, where we had to run across this dirt field, into an apple orchard that let to the back stage area. At this point Morrisey's onstage singing, and we're in the orchard dancing, feeling so high on life. We hop the last fence and out of no where all these other kids sneaking into coachella join in, & that's what basically killed it for us. Security heard the fence going crazy & rushed over to give us the boot. Not to mention I lost my cell phone in all this craziness. So my life long dreams of frolicking merrily in fields of grass, (amongst a Beatle for heavens sake!!) were tarnished before it could ever even begin.

But mark my words, world; someday I will see Sir Paul McCartney & he will play Monkberry Moon Delight at that show and I'll think back like, "the man can keep his $300+!!! Such ridiculous demands!!! (It obviously still stings pretty bad incase you can't tell.) Heres some of the pics from the drive there and what not.
